The viewing platform has a slightly higher angle and a more prominent position, overlooking the lake and small islands. The scenery is very good. It is said that the most classic photos of Basongcuo are from here.

Today we will continue our activities in downtown Lhasa. In the morning, I went to the bazaar to take a look around, purchase and prepare some food and other things for Tingri and Mount Everest Base Camp. In the afternoon, I went to the Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Potala Palace Square and other scenic spots, and in the evening I went to the Potala Palace Square to watch the night view. Revisiting the old place makes people feel emotional. There are only so many tourists in June, and there will be more tourists in the peak tourist season in July and August. It can be seen how popular Tibet tourism is now. Now when entering the Potala Palace Square, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street and other places, identity verification and security checks are required.

There is no ticket to enter the park, but you have to check your ID card. There are quite a lot of people, mainly locals who come here to turn around. Today we will leave Lhasa for Shigatse. First, return to the vicinity of Gongga Airport, and then turn from Qushui County to National Highway 318, which is tens of kilometers closer than taking Provincial Highway 307 in the direction of Gyantse, but there are basically no scenic spots along the way; second, go down along the highway To the bank of Yanghu Lake, walk 20 to 30 kilometers from the lakeside road, then turn to Provincial Highway 307 in the direction of Langkazi and Gyangze, and then go to Shigatse via Bailang. , Karola Glacier and Manla Reservoir Observation Deck and many other scenic spots can be visited, and will also pass through Gyantse, a famous historical and cultural city in China. In addition, walking along the shore of Yanghu Lake, there will be multiple viewing platforms, which is also an excellent place to appreciate Yanghu Lake, and the roads are easy to walk.

Of course we chose the latter and traveled all the way to Shigatse. Due to waiting in Lhasa in the morning to get the border defense permit to the Everest Base Camp entrusted by the travel agency, the departure was delayed and some time was delayed. In addition, the speed limit on the road was serious. But it was almost dark at 9:00 pm before arriving at the hotel in Shigatse.

D19 June 22 Shigatse - Tingri (240 km)

Although the city is the second largest city in Tibet, the appearance of the city is only so-so. Fortunately, there are beautiful natural scenery and unique post-Tibet life here, making Shigatse known as "the most pleasant and beautiful manor".

In the afternoon, we hurried to Tingri. The distance was only 240 kilometers and the road conditions were good, but we walked for nearly 5 hours before arriving at the destination hotel. Because it is said that the speed limit and penalties here in Shigatse are notorious, and this is what the drivers who often go in and out of this area complain about. In addition, there are a lot of vehicles coming and going along the way, so we have to drive with extra care. Today's main task is to hurry. We set off at 7:30 in the morning and arrived at the hotel in Dangxiong at 8:30 in the evening. We walked for 13 hours. Because I am going to Namtso, I have lived in Lhasa for a few days, and it will be more troublesome to enter and leave the big city, so I crossed Lhasa from the side and decided to stay in Damxung for tonight. From the map, there are two roads to go, one is to go back to Lhasa along the Sichuan-Tibet line of the 318 National Road, and then turn to the Qinghai-Tibet line of the 109 National Road to Dangxiong. After all, they are all national roads, and the road conditions are good, but there are too many cars on the road, and there are dozens of kilometers to go; one is to go along National Highway 318 after passing Shigatse, turn to Provincial Highway 304, and then take National Highway 109 to get there. Later, after asking many people and drivers, they all said that Provincial Highway 304 was undergoing major repairs, and the road was very difficult to walk, and the detour to Lhasa was much longer. You can take 318-Nimu-Yangbajing-109-Dangxiong, and the road is very close. easy to go.

It is just after listening to these words and taking this road that we have taken a lot of bad roads and suffered a lot today. It turns out that there is also a section of Provincial Highway 304 after Nimu-Yangbajing. Isn't that under overhaul! The road is terribly dilapidated, and what is even more exasperating is that the road is blocked when walking, there is no sidewalk, and there are no signs telling you where to go. At this time, we couldn't explain clearly when asking for directions, and the navigation didn't listen to us, which caused us to spend a lot of time and take a lot of wrong roads. The car turned around and even drove to barren mountains and wild ridges or even dead-end places. Fortunately, the SUV has a high chassis and good off-road capabilities, otherwise it would be really troublesome. Later, after going around and around, I finally reached the main road. Later, when I was in a hurry, I was not in the mood to take a good look even after passing through the Yangbajing geothermal area.

More than half of the 65-kilometer journey from Dangxiong to Namtso is undergoing major repairs. The road surface is in dilapidated condition, and it takes about two hours to reach the scenic spot on the sidewalk with abnormal bumps. When passing through the Nagenla Mountain Pass at an altitude of 5,190 meters, the wind was strong and there were a few light rains. It was very cold. I stopped to take a photo and left. The road conditions on most sections of this road are not bad, but there are too many large trucks, and the speed limit is also severe, I can't go fast, and I didn't arrive at the hotel where I was staying in Anduo until after 8:00 pm.

The altitude here is as high as 4,800 meters, which is the highest altitude place for our self-driving tour on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Many people dare not stay here because the altitude is too high. Fortunately, we are in good physical and mental condition, and we were able to fall asleep at night and keep our spirits up. D23 Amdo-Golmud on June 26 (690 kilometers)

Today should be the most tiring, hardest and most difficult day of this trip. Departing from Anduo County, passing the 109 National Highway Qinghai-Tibet Line across the Tanggula Pass, Fenghuo Crater and Kunlun Pass at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters, and passing through the Hoh Xil National Nature Reserve with an average altitude of more than 4,600 meters, the journey is 690 kilometers. In order to hurry, I got up at 5 o'clock in the morning, only ate a little snack, and set off before dawn at 6 o'clock. I stayed at Xinglong Building Hotel in Golmud, the parking is convenient, everything is good, but the room is a bit small, I stayed here for two nights. The altitude here is much lower at 2850 meters.

Yesterday's journey was really exhausting. Today I had a good rest in Golmud, a city with a good environment and a low altitude (only over 2,700 meters). Washed the car, went shopping, and took a nap. In the evening, I found a good restaurant, ordered a few dishes, drank some beer, brewed a pot of tea from my hometown, and enjoyed the leisurely slow life and good times. It feels so good!
